Lina Damberg is a Portfolio Associate at LendInvest and is part of our Development Finance team here at LendInvest. Her role involves working with borrowers and brokers to help secure the funding they need for their development projects.

What inspired you to pursue a career in property finance?

I started at LendInvest shortly after moving to the UK, and it was my first job here. I had never worked in property finance previously but I was always interested in real estate. Working on the lender side means you contribute to the building of society as a whole – the mortgage industry has a huge impact on the overall economy and it’s exciting to be a part of that.

Could you tell us about your responsibilities at LendInvest and how you contribute to the company’s mission?

My responsibilities at LendInvest include overseeing a portfolio of development and development exit loans. We pride ourselves at LendInvest in providing the best service to our borrowers and intermediaries, and it’s the main focus each day.

Can you share a specific project or task you’ve worked on recently that has challenged you the most, and what did you learn from that experience?

This answer may seem like a cop-out, but every case is different and comes with its own challenges – it’s too hard to choose! You learn something from each one you work on, truly.

What do you think are the biggest challenges and opportunities for Property Developers right now

I think the major challenge at this time, and what has been for the last few years, is the economic side of property development. The impact of interest rate rises, and the fluctuating finance, labour, and materials costs has caused many developers a lot of grief and stress.

On the bright side, home buyers are increasingly seeking homes that are energy-efficient and high-security. This is something that mainly exists in newly built homes or refurbishments, which means the demand for what developers offer is very much there, and will only increase.

What are your favourite things about working at LendInvest?

I have been with LendInvest for almost 9 years now, and my favourite part of working here has always been that you are given the tools and trust to expand your skills and move up the career ladder.
