We sat down with Portfolio Administrator Katrina Newberry to hear about her career journey at LendInvest as part of the development finance team.

What inspired you to pursue a career in property finance?

I previously worked for a company that dealt with managing short-term rental properties and investment properties for landlords. I wanted to pursue a career in property finance, to see the other side of the development process, rather than just the end results. I love being able to see how projects begin in comparison to the finished build. Every project is different and it makes the role so interesting, as you are always learning something new.

Could you tell us about your responsibilities at LendInvest and how you contribute to the company’s mission?

My responsibilities at LendInvest include overseeing a portfolio of development and refurb projects. As well as the administrative side of our BTL Portfolio Loan. I contribute to the company’s mission, by striving to ensure our customers have the most efficient and straightforward process while maintaining the high quality and professional service expected of LendInvest.

Can you share a specific project or task you’ve worked on recently that has challenged you the most, and what did you learn from that experience?

A recent challenge I have found is overseeing the GDV Refurb Loans, as this was a completely new area for me. I’ve learnt how to adjust my current knowledge to adapt and understand how these loans vary from development loans. Ensuring I am able to guide our borrowers through based on their varying experience and builds, to provide a personalised service.

What are your favourite things about working at LendInvest?

I really enjoy how everyday is different and you are always able to learn new things, but my favourite thing about LendInvest is the team. I love how everyone is there to support each other and always available to assist with tasks, advice or questions. With a supportive team, you are able to be pushed outside your comfort zone and expand your personal expertise. There are always opportunities to grow in the business and your achievements are celebrated.

What advice would you give to anyone who wants to pursue a career in property finance?

Always ask if you have questions, it is the easiest way to expand your knowledge and there really is no such thing as a ‘stupid question’.
