LendInvest in Scotland: Q&As with team members from our Buy-to-Let, underwriting and engineering teams
This week LendInvest opened a new office in Glasgow, a base for our expanding Scottish team. Our presence in Scotland has been growing over the last few years with team members across all of our lending and technology products and we spoke to a few members about their role, how they interact with the rest of the business and what excites them about a new office in Scotland.
Michelle Scanlan – Mortgage Systems Administrator
How long have you worked for LI?
3 weeks
Have you always worked from Scotland?
Yes, previously worked for Santander and First Mortgage.
Can you describe the day-to-day of your role?
I am the new Mortgage Systems Administrator. I will be the first point of contact for anything sourcing systems related. My day-to-day includes pulling data from these systems (mainly 27tec & mortgage brain) to see where we are ranked and keeping these systems up-to-date.
How does your work interact with colleagues across the country?
My team are based in London. We interact via google-meet.
What (if anything!) excites you about having a LendInvest base in Scotland?
Will be nice to work from the office and see people once or twice a week. Great office location. Roll on the Christmas Markets in George Square.
Nicholas Hamilton – BTL Underwriter
How long have you worked for LI?
Joined in January 2021 from another specialist lender
Have you always worked from Scotland?
Yes, 4 years in Edinburgh and the last 3 years in Glasgow, with brief spells in South Yorkshire and Mumbai
Can you describe the day-to-day of your role?
I’m a mortgage Underwriter within the Buy to Let team, I look at a mixture of individual and company BTL applications submitted via intermediaries covering Standard, HMO and Multi-Unit Block transactions
How does your work interact with colleagues across the country?
Our team is a mixture of remote colleagues across the UK (albeit Glasgow heavy) and some London based colleagues. We largely interact virtually but have quarterly catch ups in the Head Office in London.
What (if anything!) excites you about having a LendInvest base in Scotland?
It’ll be great to see colleagues in person more regularly from both a team building perspective and opens back up the strong potential for Friday post work pint(s). I walk past 3 Greggs on my commute into the new office, so I’m looking forward to getting my pre-work bacon roll routine back up and running!
